This page explains what cookies and similar technologies are, how the Northgate Building Limited website uses them, and the choices you have. We keep things simple on this site: there are no advertising, analytics or social media tracking cookies, and we will update this page before that ever changes.
This website is operated by Northgate Building Limited, a family-run building company at 32 Northgate Avenue, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, IP32 6AZ. A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your computer or phone when you visit. It lets the site remember things between pages, such as a choice you have made. Similar technologies, like browser local storage, do the same job in a slightly different way. UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, alongside the UK GDPR) says we may only place cookies that are not strictly necessary if you have agreed to them, and that we must tell you clearly what we use.
The site is built and hosted on Webflow. It does not run Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Hotjar or any other visitor tracking, and it does not show adverts. The only things stored in your browser are strictly necessary for the site to work and to remember the choice you make on our cookie banner.

Because everything listed above is strictly necessary, the banner's Accept and Decline buttons currently make no difference to what the site stores beyond recording your choice. We show the banner anyway so that the moment we do add anything optional, your preference is already in place and respected.
A few things on the site connect to other companies' servers. None of them set cookies on our behalf, but it is worth knowing about them. Our typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests the font files from Google and Google receives your IP address as part of that request; Google's privacy policy covers how they treat it. The green WhatsApp button in the corner of every page, and the WhatsApp links in our footer and contact page, simply open a chat with us in WhatsApp; nothing happens until you tap it, and once you do, WhatsApp's own privacy policy applies to the conversation. Links to other websites, including the credit to our web designers in the footer, take you off this site and onto pages governed by their own policies.
When you first visit, a small banner at the bottom of the screen lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change your mind at any time using the button below, which brings the banner back so you can choose again.
You can also control cookies through your browser. Every modern browser lets you see which cookies are stored, delete them, and block them for particular sites or altogether. The instructions differ slightly by browser: see the help pages for Google Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Microsoft Edge. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of a website working as intended, though on this site the effect would be limited to the banner reappearing on each visit.
If we ever add tools that use cookies, such as analytics to see which pages people find useful, we will update this page first, list the new cookies in the table above, and ask for your consent through the banner before any of them are set. The date at the top of the page tells you when it was last changed.
