Told straight what a job really involves

Before you commit to anything, we tell you what the job actually involves, what it will disturb in the house, and roughly how long it will take from start to finish. If a job is not worth doing, or a simpler option would serve you just as well, we say so plainly. That costs us work sometimes but is still the right way to run a building firm.

One point of contact, quote to finish

The same team comes out to look at the job, runs it on site, and is who you ring if something needs sorting. There is no call centre and no rotating list of subcontractors passing you between them. One phone number gets you the people who actually know your job.

Specialist trades certify their own work

Electrics and gas are done by people qualified to certify that work themselves, not by a general labourer working outside what they are trained for. Building control is told about the job properly and involved at the right points on site, rather than treated as paperwork to sort out once the walls are already closed up. That is how the work actually gets signed off at the end.

Snagging gets sorted, not left for you

A finished job still needs a look a few weeks later, once the building has settled and you have lived in it properly. Doors stick, paint marks, small gaps show up that nobody could see on day one. We come back and put those right without an argument about whether it counts. That is part of the job, not an optional extra.

A family business you'll actually get to know

Northgate is run by Eric Keymer, with his wife and daughter also part of the business. We would rather build a proper working relationship with the people whose homes we're in than treat you as one job in a long queue. Expect us to be straightforward, easy to reach, and genuinely interested in getting your project right, and we will happily point you toward trades we trust for anything outside our own.

Insured, guaranteed, and FMB standard

We carry £10 million public liability insurance and back every job with a 12 month workmanship guarantee, extended to 2 years on new builds. We're members of the Federation of Master Builders and work to what the FMB expects of its members, not just what building regulations require.
